QISSN welcomes Griffith University as Major Sponsor of the 2026 Netball Carnival

The Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN) Association is delighted to announce Griffith University as the Naming Rights Sponsor for the 2026 QISSN Carnival, reinforcing the event’s commitment to nurturing young athletes and supporting excellence in school sport across Queensland.

The QISSN Carnival is one of the state’s largest and most respected school‑based sporting events, bringing together more than 80 independent secondary schools each year. The 2026 carnival is hosted by Emmaus College and will be held at Brisbane’s Nissan Arena, showcasing high‑quality netball and providing valuable development opportunities for emerging players.

Janelle Agius, president of the QISSN Association, said Griffith University’s partnership reflected a shared vision for supporting young people both on and off the court.

“We are proud to welcome Griffith University as Naming Rights Sponsor of the 2026 QISSN Carnival,” Janelle said. “Their commitment to education, community and high performance sport strongly aligns with the values of QISSN. This partnership enhances the carnival experience and helps create meaningful pathways for our student athletes both during and beyond their school years.”

Emmaus College’s Principal, Jane Egan agreed, saying “Griffith University is deeply committed to developing the next generation of athletes, leaders and changemakers. Their involvement in high‑performance sport, community engagement, and athlete development makes them an outstanding partner for QISSN.”

As part of their sponsorship, Griffith University will be actively involved throughout the week‑long event, engaging with students and families and highlighting the diverse study pathways available across the University’s campuses. Located in Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast, as well as offering more than 100 online degrees, Griffith’s flexible study options supports students in balancing sport, school and family commitments.

Griffith’s relocation of its Business, Information Technology and Law offerings to the new Brisbane City campus—set to open in 2027—will provide even greater accessibility and tertiary pathway opportunities for students seeking to pursue study in these growing disciplines.

A key feature of the partnership is the opportunity for students to learn more about the Griffith Sports College, which is nationally recognised for supporting elite athletes as they balance their sporting commitments with academic study.
